BYU football only plays twice in the month of October as they try to rebound from three September losses. Here are three bold predictions for the month.

Independent status has been rough on BYU. The nature of trying to schedule a full 12-game slate and flesh it out with as many quality opponents as possible leaves the Cougars front-loading their schedule each season. That was the case this year, as BYU took on four straight Power Five opponents to open the year.

That the Cougars went 2-2 against Utah, Tennessee, USC and Washington is impressive. But they have no further opportunities to make statements against Power Five opponents this season. That means BYU’s ceiling is usually set before we get to the month of October.

Here we are, though, and after taking a bye in Week 6 the Cougars play just two games this month before getting their second bye week on the Saturday before Halloween. BYU travels to South Florida in Week 7, then follows that up with a home date against top-15 Boise State in Provo in Week 8.

What is going to transpire for Kalani Sitake’s team over the next month? Keep reading for three bold predictions about how things will shake out in October for BYU.
