3. Avoid the costly turnover

This is the most cliché of sayings when it comes to football, but teams lost games this season because of the accumulation of several mistakes and miscues during games.

Ask Utah how drive-killing penalties cost them their game against USC. Personal foul penalties ushered the Virginia Cavaliers back in the game against the Seminoles. Those are two of many examples of how mental mistakes can cost you a win.

Jalen Hurts and the Sooners can’t make those type of mistakes. Hurts can’t throw interceptions, or fumble the ball. The offensive line can’t commit holding penalties on short down and distance.

Oklahoma’s offense is explosive, this is true, but you still don’t want to put any added stress on it by making it obvious you have to throw. When they have a opportunity to put distance between them and Texas, the Sooners can’t commit pass interference or defensive holding penalties either.

In short, they have to play sound, disciplined football.
