Texas and Oklahoma football. It is one of those rivalries of the ages and the latest installment promises to be great. Here is everything you need to know.

This game has been a big one in recent years in the Big 12. Last season, it was this matchup that almost kept the Sooners out of the playoff. Of course, the win in the rematch in the Big 12 Championship game pushed Oklahoma into that spot.

Now, this game is one of the more exciting matchups so far this year. The Longhorns couldn’t pull off the upset of LSU, but can they do it over Oklahoma this week?

Here is everything you need to know about the matchup:

Keys to Victory

Both of these teams have the offense to win this game. There is no question that Sam Ehlinger and Jalen Hurts both have the ability to put up mountains and mountains of points. There is no key to victory in that except maybe to see who can put up the most points.

However, what it really comes down to the defense and who can make enough stops to win this one. Neither team has put together amazing defense throughout the season and that will likely be their downfall as the season gets harder. It has already been the downfall for the Longhorns against LSU. Which team has enough to defense to make this one happen?

Prediction

This one will be a shootout for sure, at least at the start. However, I am not convinced that Texas has the ability to keep up in this kind of shoot out. They couldn’t keep up with Joe Burrow, what makes them think they can keep up with Hurts? I don’t have faith in the Longhorns at this point. It’ll be close, but not close enough.

Final Score: Oklahoma 42, Texas 32
