Georgia football was upset by the South Carolina Gamecocks in a double overtime game. This changes the entire landscape of college football.

With the exception of the Bulldogs’ game against Notre Dame, Georgia had not been tested in any of their matches. Other than their game against the Irish, the closest margin any team has lost to the Bulldogs is 24 points. This three score win came against Vanderbilt on an away game that was also the first week of the season.

South Carolina, on the other hand, came into the game struggling with a record of 2-3. However, the Gamecocks have been forced to play without their starting quarterback, Jake Bentley, who was injured in the first game of the year.

After a stellar performance by the South Carolina defense in the first half, the Gamecocks led the Bulldogs, 17-10. Both defenses stepped up big in the third quarter and neither team scored.

South Carolina held on to the lead until 1:48 left in the fourth quarter when Georgia tied it up, 17-17, with a Jake Fromm 6-yard touchdown pass. After a possession by each team, neither scored and the game went into overtime.

Jake Fromm was intercepted in the first overtime and South Carolina’s kicker, Parker White, missed a 33-yard field goal to win the game.

In double overtime, Parker White redeemed himself and put South Carolina up 20-17. Rodrigo Blankenship, Georgia’s kicker, could not do respond in the same way and missed from 42 yards. The Gamecocks won in double overtime, 20-17.

Undoubtedly, this will change the landscape of the SEC and all of college football. Let’s take a look at a few huge implications from this game.
