2. Memphis showed resilience in fighting back against Temple

That said, Memphis showed some incredible resilience in drawing close to a comeback victory against the Owls. Temple struggled to stop the Tigers offense in the second half, allowing them to chip away at the lead and threaten a total reversal on the scoreboard. That was not to be for Memphis, but Mike Norvell and his staff will be happy to see the way their players managed to bounce back late in the second quarter and through the second half to challenge for victory.

Brady White finished 28-of-42 for 363 yards and a pair of scores — though he was also played a part in every one of the turnovers given away by the Tigers. Kenneth Gainwell finished with 106 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries, but he also missed stretches of the second half with an injury.

Memphis might be undefeated, but they at least showed themselves capable of taking a punch and rebounding from the blow. That lesson will serve them well as they go deeper into the American Athletic Conference schedule over the next seven weeks. There is plenty that they will find to work on when they go back to review the film on Sunday, but Memphis players had every right to hold their heads high after proving their ability to bounce back.
