In a game that lived up to the hype for sure, Jalen Hurts and the Oklahoma football came out on top. What did we learn in this one?

Last season, this game nearly kept the Sooners out of the Playoff as the Longhorns took the Red River Rivalry in the final minutes. However, that was not the case this season. The Sooners took control from the start and even though the Longhorns fought tooth and nail, they couldn’t overcome Jalen Hurts and the Sooners.

What did we learn about each team from this one?

3. These are the top teams in the conference

The Big 12 isn’t exactly the scariest conference in college football. The Baylor Bears still sit undefeated, pending this matchup with Texas Tech coming up. That being said, though, I am not convinced that Baylor is ready for full-on Big 12 play. We will find out this week and the rest of the season of course, but I don’t have faith there.

Texas and Oklahoma on the other hand? These are two top teams that are absolutely top teams within this conference and possibly top 10 teams in the nation. Will the Longhorns move down after this loss? Absolutely, though it likely won’t be too far at all or at least it shouldn’t be.

I don’t see another loss on the schedule for either of these teams assuming they play at the same level that they played today. This Longhorn team nearly took down Joe Burrow and LSU and then kept the Sooners off balance. Oklahoma has run through team after team offensively and showed that even in close games they can still do what it takes to win.
