Boise State Football: 3 takeaways from runaway victory over Hawaii
By Zach Bigalke
A possible preview of the MWC championship ended in a blowout Boise State football victory over Hawaii. Here is what we learned from the Week 7 win.
What was supposed to be a showdown of Mountain West heavyweights turned into a mismatch at Albertsons Stadium, as Boise State gave the scoreboard operator a workout in a 59-37 victory over Hawaii. The Rainbow Warriors had few answers no matter who was on the field for the Broncos, and the hosts remained among just a dozen remaining undefeated teams in the FBS at the midway point of the season.
Up 31-14 by halftime at home, Boise State never looked in danger of collapsing in the interdivisional battle. Bryan Harsin’s team continues to look like the class of the Group of Five, and the favorite to claim the automatic New Year’s Six berth designated to a league champion.
While there is still the back half of the regular season to play out, there is nothing to indicate that the Broncos are likely to drop a game this season. We have seen Boise State collapse at odd times in the past, but this iteration of the Broncos is built in a way that looks like they can withstand adversity in a way that hasn’t existed in the past.
What else did we learn from the MWC showdown on the Smurf Turf in late-night Saturday action? Here are three things to take away from the Boise State victory at home to move that moved the Broncos to 6-0 in the standings.
