It’s time for your weekly Big 12 football power rankings. Oklahoma won the Red River Showdown and Baylor out lasts Texas Tech, each making moves.

We had a light slate (three games) in the Big 12 this week, and the power rankings didn’t have a lot of movement overall, but there was some shake up in the front of the list. There will definitely be more movement this week with a full slate of games.

In an underrated game of the week, the Baylor Bears outlasted the Texas Tech Red Raiders 33-30 in double-overtime. The Sooners defeated the Longhorns 34-27 in the Red River Showdown in a game that wasn’t as close as the score indicates. Brock Purdy and the Cyclones found a running game and forced three turnovers as they shut out West Virginia in the second half on their way to a 38-14 win.

Baylor is the best team no one outside of Waco, Texas, is talking about. Charlie Brewer is one of the underrated players in all of college football. Oh, and they should always wear those helmets. It took a half to get the scoring going in this one, but when it did the game got really interesting.

Jett Duffey — who should be the full-time starter at Texas Tech — did everything he could to win the game for the Red Raiders came up just short in Waco. Had it not been for two red-zone turnovers in the first half, the Oklahoma/Texas game could have looked completely different from what it did — 21-3 is a lot worse than 10-3 at half time.

Although the Longhorns came back, the Sooners kept them at arm’s length the entire game. West Virginia emptied the gun against Texas as they had nothing for Iowa State especially on defense.

With that being said — or in this case written — and with all due respect to Barry Switzer and “Hangin’ half a hundred on ’em” here are this week’s Big 12 power rankings.
