Boise State Football: 3 keys to victory vs. BYU in Week 8
1. Defense wins championships
The Boise State defense is one that they pride their whole team around. You may see that Hawaii was able to put up 37 points last week, but what you won’t see is that Boise State did not play a single starter in the second half and gave up 24 of those points in the second half. The Boise State offense has been huge this year in more than one way and will look to continue that success in Provo.
The star defensive end Curtis Weaver set a Mountain West record just two games ago against UNLV for most sacks in a career and will cause havoc all night. Weaver was able to break that record as only a junior and has been a real force all year. The BYU offensive line is banged up and will struggle Saturday already, Weaver might make this a nightmare for the offense.
The one problem that Boise State has had is not being able to turn teams over, we will see if they can pick off a new quarterback for the Cougars on Saturday. If they can apply pressure upfront, expect BYU to be scrambling all night. The Cougars are on their third quarterback and could have depth issues glaring in Provo Saturday night.
