Penn State football hosts Michigan in a pivotal Big Ten East matchup Saturday night. Here are three reasons why the Nittany Lions will win.

Penn State is fresh off an important road victory a week ago in Iowa City, where they defeated the Hawkeyes in a defensive showdown 17-12. The Lions now turn their attention to hosting Michigan Saturday night.

Most pundits wanted to see if Penn State was for real and last Saturday’s match up against Iowa was their first true test. The Lions had struggled to win at home against Pitt. They walloped Maryland on the road and as it turns out, the Terps are not so good. They beat an undermanned Purdue team by 28 points in a game where they started fast and then fell into a lull for most of the rest of the game. Iowa would provide a good test of what Penn State was made of.

The Lions struggled on offense, but they did just enough and held Iowa in check for most of the game to come away with the five point victory. Kinnick Stadium at night is never easy for opponents, but the Lions passed the test.

Now at 6-0, Michigan comes to Happy Valley for a prime time match up. The last three games in this series have all been blow outs, with the home team taking each of them. Should we expect another blow out? Probably not, however Penn State will beat Michigan.

Here are three reasons why the Lions will preserve their undefeated record.
