Auburn football hit the road in Week 8 to take on a struggling Arkansas team and the Tigers came away with a dominant win. What’d we learn?

No one expected Arkansas to put up much of a fight against Auburn on Saturday afternoon in Fayetteville and, well, the Razorbacks didn’t.

The game was essentially over from as Auburn took a 17-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. The Tigers just extended that lead throughout the rest of the game and headed home with a 51-10 win.

What’d we learn from the Tigers’ dominant win?

3. Talent gap is obvious

It’s fairly clear that Arkansas is still at least a couple years away from being a factor in the SEC. While Chad Morris is a smart coach and could do great things in Fayetteville, he just doesn’t have the pieces to contend just yet.

That was never more obvious than on Saturday when his offense couldn’t do much of anything against the Tigers and his team still lacks an identity. There’s a good chance this Arkansas team could go winless in conference play and that would be a serious confidence crusher heading into year three for the head coach.

Something needs to go Arkansas’ way in the near future if the program is going to make that turnaround, but nothing seems to be on the horizon.

Arkansas is clearly at the bottom of the SEC right now and the only thing that’s going to change that is a momentum-shifting win as well as solid recruiting.

Oh, and the Razorbacks should never run a fake punt again.
