3. Clemson leaned on Louisville’s defense

The Tigers got the lead and began to run the football and be physical running the football. Eventually, they overwhelmed and overtook the Cardinals because Louisville couldn’t score.

Clemson wants to be physical upfront and run the football. When the Cardinals were dropping eight, that forced two interceptions early. Clemson got nasty and began to run the football effectively which forced Louisville to change want they wanted to do defensively.

The Louisville offense was ineffective all day. It generated only 263 total yards, and most of them were in the fourth quarter when the game didn’t matter. Louisville kept giving the ball back to the Tigers and that wore the Louisville defense down.
