Ohio State Football: 3 takeaways from road blowout over Northwestern

2. J.K. Dobbins tops triple digits for fifth time in seven games
It was a big day all around for Ohio State feature back J.K. Dobbins, who did major damage against Northwestern in both the running and passing game. The run/catch threat out of the backfield posted a triple-digit game on the ground and was also a key contributor as a safety valve for Justin Fields.
Entering the contest, Dobbins was ranked second nationally in rushing yards, and he posted another huge contest against Northwestern. A 68-yard touchdown run made up the bulk of the 121 total rushing yards posted by Dobbins on 18 carries, as that one scoring burst made up for what could have ended up a relatively quiet night.
Highlighted by a 19-yard touchdown pass from Fields, Dobbins finished with three receptions for 30 yards against the Wildcats. As he continues to showcase his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield, Dobbins bolsters his draft stock with each reception.
What has been most impressive about the yardage put up by Dobbins is that, like Fields, he is often doing so in less than a full game’s worth of playing time. As he helps rack up one blowout after another, Dobbins ends up sitting out full quarters of play. Yet he still managed to put up his fifth 100-yard rushing game in seven starts this year, and he also caught his second touchdown pass of the season.
