Oklahoma football pulled away in the second half for a resounding Big 12 victory over West Virginia. What did we learn about the Sooners?

Week 8 offered up the kind of day in Norman where weird things were bound to happen. The Sooner Schooner took a spill on the field as the horses towing the wagon took a sharp turn a little too sharp, and despite a huge performance on offense Oklahoma still found themselves in a fight against visiting West Virginia in early Saturday action.

Up by just two touchdowns at halftime, things settled down in the second half and the universe was restored to normal. The Sooners shut out the Mountaineers after the intermission to pull away for a 52-14 victory that pushed Lincoln Riley’s team to 7-0 and kept them in the College Football Playoff conversation.

On a morning when other top-10 hopefuls struggled mightily, the Sooners left nothing to chance as they churned out a resounding win. AP voters are going to take notice of their performance on both sides of the ball, and Heisman voters have another data point to recommend Oklahoma’s latest transfer quarterback for a trip to Manhattan in December.

The Big 12 favorites suffered no slip on Saturday as they remained among the dwindling ranks of the unbeaten. What did we learn about the Sooners against another overmatched opponent in Week 8?
