TCU football hit the road to take on a tough Kansas State team, but the Horned Frogs were unable to bring home a victory. What’d we learn?

Hoping to make a statement and remain alive in the Big 12 title race, for the time being, TCU hit the road to take on Kansas State. A win would have opened some eyes, but the lifeless 24-17 loss did the exact opposite as everyone will now overlook the Horned Frogs.

There’s plenty of talent on TCU’s roster, but the quarterback position is lacking and that seems to be a growing theme in 2019 for Gary Patterson.

What’d we learn from Saturday’s Big 12 showdown in Manhattan?

3. Max Duggan is fun to watch when he’s running

Starting quarterback Max Duggan has some legs on him. He’s one of the best mobile quarterbacks in the Big 12 and he may not have breakaway speed but when he tucks the ball and runs, he’s hard to stop — just ask Kansas State’s defense.

Duggan finished the game with 115 yards and a 46-yard Marshawn Lynch-esque touchdown run which ignited the offense when it needed a boost. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough as his arm continues to hold the Horned Frogs back and that has led to a 3-3 record and 1-2 mark in Big 12 action.

It’s not exactly a good sign when your quarterback is better with his legs than he is with his arm because, well, he’s in that position because he’s supposed to be able to throw the ball effectively.

TCU might have a slight problem on its hands.
