Arizona State Football: 3 takeaways from loss to Utah in Week 8

Everything was aligning for Arizona State football to grab control of the Pac-12 South Division race. Everything, except the Sun Devils themselves.

Arizona State failed to deliver on the road, dropping a 21-3 decision to Utah. The final point total even snapped a modern-era record of 125 games scoring at least 10 points by the Sun Devils, dating back to 2008.

But that was the least of Herm Edwards’ worries in this one. The Utes were down their starting quarterback and running back, but Arizona State could not capitalize on the cards dealt to them.

Instead, they now find themselves back of Utah, USC and Arizona in the divisional race with two losses. Each of those previously mentioned teams have just one conference defeat to date.

This setback does not mean the season is gone for the Sun Devils, but it definitely hurts them.
