3. Vanderbilt 21, No. 23 Missouri 14

For Missouri, the Week 8 loss to Vanderbilt brings back questions about how tough the Tigers really are. The Tigers began the 2019 season with a disappointing road loss to Wyoming, but they bounced back to reel off five straight wins on the way to a Top 25 ranking.

The Commodores made sure that the Tigers’ road woes continued. Vanderbilt had just lost to Mountain West bottom-feeder UNLV and had a 1-5 record overall. The Commodores had also lost by at least 24 points to every SEC opponent they had faced this year, a list including Georgia, LSU, and Ole Miss.

2. Georgia Tech 28, Miami 21 (OT)

For the Yellow Jackets, a 1-5 record to begin the first half of the 2019 season and a loss to FCS foe The Citadel hardly inspired confidence as the team embarked on a road trip to Miami. Georgia Tech had lost all three of its ACC games by more than two touchdowns. The Hurricanes, on the other hand, had just beaten No. 20 Virginia.

The script was flipped on Saturday morning as Georgia Tech took home its first conference win of the season after an overtime win. Jordan Mason rushed for 141 yards and a touchdown in the Yellow Jacket victory.
