We head into the last week of October with plenty of potential for college football chaos. Here are five bold predictions of what we can expect in Week 9.

As we progress through the 2019 college football season, there has been some tremendous chaos that continues to transpire week after week throughout the nation. With the leaves continuing to change colors and fall from the trees on campuses from sea to shining sea, we are going to see more wacky events take place as we arrive at the end of October.

Here are five bold predictions for Week 9 action as we head into the final month of the regular season.

5. Memphis will play their way back into the AP Top 25

After playing their way to a 5-0 start, Memphis entered the AP Top 25 at No. 23 in the rankings. Then the Tigers promptly went out and collapsed against Temple 30-28 in Philadelphia, and Mike Norvell’s team was a one-and-done in the poll. After following that heartbreaker with a 30-point blowout of Tulane, though, the Tigers are right back in the hunt for the AAC West and were the first team in the land of Others Receiving Votes among AP voters.

This week they head on the road to play Tulsa. The Golden Hurricane took SMU to triple overtime in Dallas at the beginning of October before losing 43-37. Since then, they have collapsed to 2-5 overall and 0-3 in American Athletic Conference play after double-digit defeats against Navy and Cincinnati. Tulsa will continue that plummet down the standings this week at home as they miss a bowl game for the third straight year under Philip Montgomery.

Favored by 10.5 points on the road, the Tigers are going to win by at least twice that margin. Kenneth Gainwell, coming off a historic performance, will have another triple-digit day on the ground, while Brady White will throw for at least 300 yards and three touchdowns. The Memphis defense will do its job, and the Tigers will climb right back up into the AP Top 25 for good this year.
