The Saturday Blitz Podcast crew breaks down the big upsets and key results from college football’s Week 8 before looking ahead to Week 9 action.

There is plenty to discuss in this week’s edition of the Saturday Blitz Podcast, beginning with a shocker in Big Ten country. Wisconsin’s shocking loss headlined a crazy slate of Week 8 games that once again reshuffled the major polls. The Badgers went to Champaign and got caught looking ahead to the following week’s showdown against Ohio State in Columbus, and it proved costly for Paul Chryst’s team as they underperformed to expectations.

The result, though, was just one of many surprises that welled up in Week 8. In this week’s podcast, we take a look at those surprises — and atone for poor performance against the spread in Week 8 after John and I agreed on almost everything in terms of key games. From big results in the American Athletic Conference to the Pac-12 staying alive in the College Football Playoff race, there was plenty to talk about this week.

As usual, we also look ahead to five key games taking place in Week 9. In addition to three matchups between Top 25 programs, there are also some eyebrow-raising spreads that look dangerously like upset specials. We break down the possibilities in the betting markets in this edition of the podcast, as well as offering up our locks of the week and our upset picks.

To close out things in true Tailgater fashion, we also offer up some suggestions for what to eat this weekend and the libations we will be enjoying during a full slate of Week 9 action.
