Auburn football travels to Baton Rouge for a battle between top 10 teams, as the LSU Tigers play host. What can Auburn do to escape with a victory?

The No. 9 Auburn Tigers (6-1), fresh off a 51-10 victory over Arkansas, once again take to the road for battle versus a ranked SEC opponent. On October 5, the Tigers fell to the 10th-ranked Florida Gators in Gainesville — their first defeat of the season.

With a visit to No. 2 LSU this weekend, Auburn will have a chance to regain some momentum and respect as their conference schedule heats up.

The LSU Tigers are undefeated (7-0) with wins on the road versus Texas and against the those same Gators Auburn couldn’t defeat, but it’s been more about the Bayou Bengals than their opponents this season. Led by quarterback Joe Burrow, LSU possesses the second-best scoring offense in all of college football, averaging just over 50 points per game.

Plus, Burrow’s at the top of nearly every Heisman Trophy list, and NFL scouts are starting to project him as the top overall pick. Can he be stopped?

Tiger Stadium, or Death Valley as it’s often referred, is a tough place to win for any visitor. The LSU Tigers have already knocked off one top team there this season — as ESPN’s College GameDay watched — and could notch their second top-10 victory against Auburn. But I think Gus Malzahn and the Tigers will be up to the challenge, especially if they can control the clock and get some stops on defense.

There’s always a possibility of the host looking ahead to the rival-Alabama Crimson Tide.
