Week 9 has come upon as quick and presents several big-time college football matchups, but what games are being overlooked this week?

With games like No. 13 Wisconsin vs. No. 3 Ohio State, No. 9 Auburn vs. No. 2 LSU and No. 8 Notre Dame vs. No. 19 Michigan, there is plenty to get excited for this weekend.

There are several other big-time matchups as well that could have postseason implications. But what three games are being overlooked that would be worth checking out this weekend?

3. No. 16 SMU vs. Houston

If you would have told me that the University of Houston would be two-touchdown underdogs at home to SMU at the start of the season, there would be no way I’d believe you. However, that looks to be the case as the Mustangs are 7-0 going into this game and the Cougars sitting at 3-4.

SMU is off to an extremely hot start and have become one of the favorites to win the American. They are led by transfer quarterback Shane Buechele who has been lights out. He’s coming off a six-touchdown performance and will look to continue his solid play. The Mustangs have their eyes on a New Year’s Six Bowl, but have to get past the Cougars and avoid getting upset.

The Cougars’ season has not gone according to plan. There was plenty of excitement around the program, but that excitement has ceased. They will be fighting just to make a bowl game, but an upset at home on a Thursday night against the Mustangs would go a long way.
