2. Louisville runs the ball well

Virginia has a super stingy defense which is one of the best in the ACC and one of the more underrated in college football. They haven’t seen the speed the Louisville Cardinals bring to the table. They have players that can run.

Scott Satterfield wants to get his speed in space. You won’t see just Hassan Hall or Javian Hawkins, but both quarterbacks Micale Cunningham and Evan Conley can run. Since this is such a crucial game for the Cardinals, Satterfield will get their diminutive dynamo Tutu Atwell involved in their run game with some jet sweep plays as well.

The Cavaliers are built to stop the run between the tackles, not to stop the run in space. Louisville has no issue with running the ball from their four and five receiver sets. You will see a lot of window dressing and tempo from the Louisville run game.

It will be interesting to see how Virginia adjusts to a running game that seeks to get to the perimeter. Virginia doesn’t have the personnel to slow down how Louisville approaches running the football.
