16. Which team is the bigger surprise, Minnesota or Penn State?

Minnesota is the biggest surprise as they are 7-0 looking to go 8-0 with a win over Maryland, potentially heading into a surprising potential undefeated matchup in two weeks if Penn State is still unscathed.

15. Which team has had the most players enter the transfer portal?

Michigan State has six players in the transfer portal currently. Mostly offensive players but still it is unusual for the Spartan football program to have players request a transfer during the season.

14. Which five-win team(s) will become bowl eligible in October?

Michigan, Indiana and Iowa are all set at five wins entering the last game for the month. Ohio State, Wisconsin, Penn State and Minnesota are already bowl eligible. The Wolverines host No. 8 Notre Dame, the Hoosiers travel to Nebraska to play the Cornhuskers and the Hawkeyes play at Northwestern. Iowa will become bowl eligible with a win over the Wildcats. Michigan has a good chance of defeating the Irish at home and Indiana is the least likely of becoming bowl eligible but they have a better chance of winning at Nebraska as opposed to years past.

13. Will Rutgers beat Liberty for second win?

With Rutgers’ best offensive player, junior running back Raheem Blackshear, deciding to redshirt and not play again this season, the answer is no. Liberty is 5-2 on the season having won five straight games and they look to get their sixth against the Scarlet Knights. The game will be close but Rutgers has not shown much on either offense or defense the past four weeks.
