2. Trevor Lawrence finally easing into elite status

For the first two months of the season, everyone has been left wondering what’s going on with all-everything quarterback Trevor Lawrence. He’s not quite a Heisman contender this season when everyone expected him to run away with the award and he has been a turnover machine for the Tigers. Is he hurt? Dabo Swinney is furious that people believe that.

Lawrence shook off all the doubt through these first two months with one of his best performances of the season, passing for 275 yards and three touchdowns on 16-of-19 completions. He was accurate, didn’t turn the ball over and didn’t have to finish the game.

The sophomore quarterback has been getting better over the past few weeks and this is the type of performance everyone has been waiting for. He even added 42 rushing yards, totaling over 300 on the day.

Everyone just dubbed him the best quarterback in college football after he led Clemson to the national title as a true freshman, but the expectations for year two weren’t totally fair. He was talked about as being one of the best college quarterbacks of all time and he was just one year out of high school.

Now that the expectations have been tempered, he’s easing into that elite status. This kid is starting to get back to playing fun football again.
