1. Brock Purdy can still lead this team to big things

While Iowa State trailed for most of the afternoon, Brock Purdy looked solid from start to finish. He did throw it over 60 times which is a little too much for an offense that has finally found its running back, but he was effective.

Purdy did have a bad interception late which essentially put the game away as the Cowboys returned it for a touchdown, but he was outstanding for most of the game.

All that will be remember is that final pick-six as well as two more interceptions which decided the game, but he kept the Cyclones in this game, putting up 382 yards and a touchdown. His three picks were disappointing, but he tried to force too much with the game on the line. He needs to calm down and let things open up like he did on the game-tying drive in the fourth.

This sophomore quarterback is one of the best in the Big 12 and you could argue he’s the No. 2 passer behind Jalen Hurts, though Sam Ehlinger supporters will come to his rescue.

Iowa State isn’t officially eliminated from the Big 12 title game race, but this one definitely hurt. The Cyclones must win out to stay alive and maybe they’ll have a shot at big things.
