After a slow start, Ohio State football took over and dominated the Wisconsin Badgers. What else did we learn from the Big Ten matchup?

The Ohio State Buckeyes have looked incredibly good throughout the entirety of the 2019 season. However, they hadn’t really played anyone of significant difficulty until this Week 9 matchup against the Wisconsin Badgers.

The Buckeyes entered the game with a perfect 7-0 record and ranked at No. 3 in the country. Wisconsin, on the other hand, were coming off their first loss of the season, 24-23, to Illinois. Before their loss, the Badgers were ranked at No. 6 and had many believing they could contend for a spot in the College Football Playoff.

Let’s see what we took away from this Big Ten powerhouse slugfest.

3. Weather changed the narrative

Well, it actually wasn’t a slugfest at all. The first score of the game came just under seven minutes into the second quarter. And, it was only a field goal! With heavy rain coming down the entire first half, it made things extremely difficult for either offense to get thing going. There were very few penalties in the first half and no turnovers. However, each team struggled to handle the ball, dropping easy catches and bobbling snaps from the center.

Justin Fields overcame the elements and led Ohio State on a nice drive at the very end of the second quarter, giving them a 10-0 lead on their way into halftime.

As the rain slowed, offensive productivity quickly increased, specifically for Ohio State. And even more precisely, J. K. Dobbins stole the show. He finished with 221 total yards and two touchdowns.

The game really got out of hand when the rain picked back up and Wisconsin fumbled the ball twice as they were approaching the redzone. The game ended with a Buckeyes win, 38-7.
