After a rough start to the 2019 season, UCLA football has come on as of late, winning two straight games, including a big win over Arizona State.

Is Chip Kelly back? The Bruins looked dead in the water a few weeks ago, but after back-to-back wins, improving to 3-5 on the season, UCLA might just be headed toward bowl eligibility rather than a quiet postseason.

The Bruins picked up an impressive win over No. 24 Arizona State on Saturday night, dominating the game from start to finish.

It wasn’t exactly the outcome anyone was expecting, especially after watching UCLA fall flat through the first month and a half of the season, but Kelly has sparked this team recently and the Bruins are playing some good football.

What’d we learn from the Bruins’ blowout win over Arizona State in Week 9?

3. Defense showed up to play

Outside of Jayden Daniels, no one on Arizona State’s roster truly had a big game. The Sun Devils have one guy who needs to be accounted for at all times and that’s Daniels and the Bruins didn’t let him get completely loose even though he had over 330 total yards. He was the main reason Arizona State wasn’t completely embarrassed.

Daniels is darn-near a magician for Arizona State but UCLA’s defense didn’t let him get too crazy. The Bruins aren’t known for defense and that’s been clear this season, but the way they were able to take care of the Sun Devils was impressive.

On top of keeping Daniels in check, the Sun Devils completely limited the run game of Eno Benjamin who wasn’t able to crack 100 yards on the ground. That’s a major win for the Bruins and Chip Kelly.
