1. UCLA might just be a bowl team, after all

A few weeks ago, would you have believed me if I told you that UCLA might just be headed for bowl eligibility, after all?

Probably not, right? The Bruins showed no signs of life and at 1-5 fresh off a loss to hapless Oregon State, there was no way things were going to get better in a hurry. And then UCLA smacked Stanford around on the road before handling No. 24 Arizona State at home. Thanks to these past two wins, the Bruins are 3-5 and control their own bowl destiny.

A bowl bid won’t be easy seeing as there are still tough games left on the schedule against Colorado and Cal at home and on the road against USC and Utah, but it’s possible. The USC game could be the difference between bowling in December and sitting at home.

The Bruins should take care of Colorado and Cal if they continue to play at a high level like they have for the past two weeks but USC on the road is the real toss-up — anything can happen in a rivalry game, though.

This team, believe it or not, might just be bowl-worthy after all and if it reaches six wins with the remaining schedule, it will be more than earned.
