11/1 at UConn. Navy Midshipmen. 25. 944. Pick Analysis. won 41-38 vs. Tulane. player. Scouting Report

Navy improved to 6-1 on the season, earning a spot in the AP Top 25 this week after voters continued to sleep on them for most of the first two months of the season. Despite their early loss at Memphis in September, the Midshipmen are once again a team to watch in the American Athletic Conference battle — and, by extension, in the Group of Five race for the automatic bid into the Cotton Bowl this year.

This week they pulled off a close victory over Tulane in a 41-38 thriller in Annapolis. Navy got a huge game out of Jamole Carothers, as the back posted 154 yards and three rushing touchdowns on 14 carries for the Midshipmen. Quarterback Malcolm Perry ran for 142 yards on 22 carries and added 68 passing yards and a touchdown in the triple-option offense. Tulane managed to post 477 yards of offense, but they also lost two Justin McMillan interceptions.

Now Navy heads to UConn on the first Friday of November in early Week 10 play, as they hope to consolidate position in the Top 25 ahead of the first set of College Football Playoff selection committee rankings. Ken Niumatalolo’s team then faces back-to-back challenges against Notre Dame and SMU that will make or break their chances in 2019.
