The college football bowl projections saw a major shakeup this week as Oklahoma football lost to Kansas State, providing a change at the top.

For the third weekend in a row, the college football bowl projections saw a big shakeup at the top due to an upset. Surprising upsets of contenders is starting to become a weekly trend, and it just goes to further show how unpredictable this sport is.

It started with Georgia’s home loss to South Carolina, continued with Wisconsin’s road loss to Illinois, and then Oklahoma was stunned in the Little Apple by Kansas State as more than three touchdown favorites.

For several weeks, the playoff field had been mostly set with Oklahoma, Clemson, and Ohio State joining the Alabama/LSU winner in the projected field. With the Sooners falling on Saturday, chaos reigns as the door has opened for a conference to potentially get multiple bids to the College Football Playoff.

The SEC obviously leads that pack with undefeated contenders Alabama and LSU in the West, but one-loss East teams Florida and Georgia are both very much alive if they can run the table and knock off the Tide or Tigers in the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta.

Don’t discount the Big Ten, however, with Ohio State as the obvious choice, but Penn State still remaining undefeated as well heading into November. I would be remiss not to mention Minnesota, which also still sports a zero in the loss column, and will host the Nittany Lions in two weeks.

Oklahoma’s loss led to some major changes in this week’s bowl projections. Let’s take a look at how things line up heading into Week 10.
