The Skinny
With the SEC looking at potentially landing two playoff teams, and two other teams in the New Year’s Six, combined with Missouri being ineligible for postseason play, the conference is unlikely to come anywhere close to filling its bowl allotment. That means that bowls with SEC tie-ins will have to search the at-large pool in order to fill the vacated slots.
Michigan is alive once more for a New Year’s Six berth after hammering Notre Dame on Saturday night at the Big House. I’ve thrown a lot of shade toward Jim Harbaugh over the years, but it’s hard not to be impressed with the in-season turnaround the Wolverines have made.
I think the Irish were probably a good bit overrated themselves, but this Michigan team has made major strides since getting blown out by Wisconsin. I think the Holiday Bowl would be thrilled with his projected matchup, though.
