5. 2012 Alabama Crimson Tide

You could pick any Nick Saban-led Alabama team and label them a classic, but the 2012 Crimson Tide team fits the mold best. And although they were featured in a release of EA’s NCAA Football, it would be awesome to have them featured as a classic in a new game.

Aside from the No. 1 scoring defense in the country, the 13-1 record and the shellacking they delivered to Notre Dame in the BCS National Championship game, the Tide’s roster — top to bottom — was legendary in 2012.

It featured starters Eddie Lacy, T.J. Yeldon, Amari Cooper, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Dee Milliner and C.J. Mosley, but it had excellent depth as well. We know Saban’s running a recruiting machine in Tuscaloosa, but it’s amazing to look back on the various teams and see the future NFL stars buried on the depth chart.

I’m talking about guys like Landon Collins, Kenyan Drake, Nick Perry, Reggie Ragland, Cyrus Jones – these guys were backups to the backups. If included in the next NCAA Football game, you wouldn’t even need to recruit if you took control of this Alabama team. Redshirting players and retaining guys who would undoubtedly have high overalls could be an issue, but if Saban was still at the helm, I’m sure it’d be attainable.
