4. Alabama Crimson Tide

If Tua goes to the NFL, the Alabama quarterback room loses a lot of firepower. Not only that, what a coup it would be if a former Auburn Tiger starts for the hated Crimson Tide. That would send shockwaves throughout the Yellowhammer State.

Alabama has a crowded quarterback room but that doesn’t mean the Tide loves anyone in that room enough to start for the next two or three years. We’ve seen Mac Jones in mop up duty in relief of Tua, but that’s not an indicator he’s the future of the Crimson Tide program.

They do have a couple of young freshman four-stars on their roster in Taulia Tagovailoa (brother of Tua) and Paul Tyson — here’s room for a three-way competition between Jones, the younger Tagovailoa and Tyson. That could leave Gatewood out of the conversation. Not only that, they’ve fully transitioned to a more pro-style passing offense with the return of offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian.

They moved on from Jalen Hurts, so fit might be an issue with Gatewood coming to Tuscaloosa especially if he isn’t that accomplished as a passer. They already have a raw talent in the younger Tagovailoa.

If he is polished as a passer, man it would be something to see him in crimson just to see the reaction of Auburn fans.
