App State has been one of the best Group of Five teams in the country coming into Saturday’s matchup against Georgia Southern. With a perfect 7-0 record, the Mountaineers have shown just how dangerous they can be with their stout defense and high flying offense. They are in a wacky situation against Georgia Southern on Saturday, having to go against the tripe-option attack of the Eagles.
Georgia Southern is a ground and pound type of team. They pride themselves off of their running game and have been successful doing so thus far in the season. The Eagles have now won three straight coming into their game against the Mountaineers and could really surprise some people this weekend.
App State has only had one true test this year against North Carolina where they won impressively 34-31 against the Tar Heels. This feels like it could be a game that Georgia State is able to hang in there are control the clock most of the game. Look for the Eagles to hammer the time of possession and win up front to keep the great App State offense off the field. This will force the Mountaineers to be ultra-efficient and could ultimately cause problems.
