3. Stop Brady White

This is way easier said than done for the SMU defense. Brady White has been as every bit of exceptional as Shane Buechele and has shown some similar throwing ability. White also has 20 touchdowns and over 2,000 passing yards in his name in 2019. SMU has struggled against the passing game in their first eight games and White could spell more trouble.

Memphis has a great running game and runs one of the most balanced offenses in the country. White is a huge part of that, making timely third-down throws and allowing his receivers to get out into space. SMU will need to exorcise those secondary demons if they want to get past a ranked Memphis squad.

Look for SMU to bring a ton of pressure and get White uncomfortable early in the game. If Memphis is able to sling it around in front of their home crowd, the Mustangs will be in real trouble. Stopping Brady White has to be their first priority on defense and they can live with the rest.
