2. Cougars defense turns around

It has been no secret that the Washington State defense has been dreadful this year. So disappointing that defensive coordinator Tracy Claeys had to resign in the middle of the season. Since Claeys has resigned, the Cougars’ defense looks like they have a bit more life to them. Oregon was able to still put up 528 total yards on the Cougars, but the Cougars have much less offensive competition coming up in November.

Washington State has given up 450 yards of total offense a game so far in eight games. This number pops out to anyone as the defense has obviously struggled. Now the Cougars are set to play California, Stanford and Oregon State who all have less than stellar offenses and don’t pose as much of a threat to the WSU defense.

We should see the Cougar defense play a whole lot better in November. To prepare for their upcoming matchup against Washington at the end of November, the Cougars should be feeling great about where they are. If all goes well, Wazzu should be 7-4 headed into Seattle looking for a cap to their 2019 regular season. The defense would have to play a big role to take down the Huskies on the road.
