Auburn Football: 3 takeaways from tight win over Ole Miss
Auburn football was expected to wipe the floor with Ole Miss on Saturday evening, but the Rebels put up a fight. What’d we learn from the Tigers’ win?
This was supposed to be a confidence-booster. Auburn was supposed to just wipe the floor with Ole Miss in Week 10, but the Tigers let the Rebels hang around for too long, but luckily found ways to win, 20-14
Auburn was up 10-7 at the half and it was more of a snoozer than expected, but the Tigers looked to put the game out of reach in the third quarter, scoring 10 straight points. Ole Miss backup quarterback John Rhys Plumlee put the Rebels on the board in the second half with a fourth-quarter touchdown run to pull within six.
The Rebels got the ball back with one final chance to pull off the upset with under two minutes left and got into Auburn territory before Plumlee threw a terrible interception to end the game.
What’d we learn from this tight win by the Tigers?
3. Auburn has impressive weapons
Even with JaTarvious Whitlow out, Auburn proved it has some impressive weapons at its disposal that can keep it in any game.
There’s guys like Harold Joiner, a young running back who had a 78-yard reception, sophomore receiver Anthony Schwartz who led the team with nine catches for 89 yards, Seth Williams, Eli Stove, DJ Williams and Kam Martin. This team is loaded with talented weapons and when Whitlow is healthy enough to come back, the Tigers will be even scarier.
The Tigers can stay alive in any game with these weapons and that’s not even mentioning Bo Nix who had himself an impressive game.
