Florida State Football: 3 takeaways from shattering loss to Miami
By Dante Pryor
Miami and Florida State football renewed one of the great rivalries in college sports on Saturday. Here are three takeaways from the game.
In a revival of one of the great rivalries in college football, the Florida State Seminoles hosted the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday afternoon. Behind Jarren Williams 313 yards passing and nine sacks by the defense, the Hurricanes dominated the Seminoles 27-10.
Both defenses came to play, limiting one another’s star running back. DeeJay Dallas had only 61 yards rushing for the Hurricanes and Cam Akers had only 66 for the Seminoles.
In the absence of a run game, Williams stepped up for the Hurricanes and had his best game in a Miami uniform throwing for two touchdowns.
Alex Hornibrook, however, had no such luck for the Seminoles. Under pressure all game long, he had 156 yards passing and threw an interception. The Seminoles got nothing going all game long against Manny Diaz and the Hurricanes’ pressure defense. Florida State played well defensively, but ran out of gas late in the game.
It was a key win for the Hurricanes who stand one game away from being bowl eligible.
