2. Kansas State is buying in
OK so, it’s Kansas, but the Jayhawks scored 37 points against Texas Tech and 48 points against Texas. The Kansas State Wildcats smothered them defensively.
Something clicked before the Oklahoma game. The Wildcats, who averaged 16 points per game their first three conference battles, have scored 48 and 38 points, respectively, in their last two outings. Skylar Thompson has stepped up and played extremely well.
Defensively, the Wildcats have looked good their last two games. Despite giving up 41 points to the Oklahoma Sooners, they shut them out in the third quarter to take the second half over.
Games like these are tricky. You have an incredible win the week before against the Sooners, and have a road game against Kansas. Their saving grace was that it was a rivalry game. You saw the Kansas State Wildcats be aggressive, efficient and finish.
They are buying into what first year head coach Chris Kleiman is selling. They are starting to get the defense going and Thompson has settled into his role offensively.
