Oklahoma State Football: 3 takeaways from big win over TCU in Week 10
2. Tylan Wallace’s absence already felt
There’s just a different feel to the offense for Oklahoma State. It’s not like the Cowboys are a pushover on that side of the ball, though, because they still have talented freshman quarterback Spencer Sanders and the nation’s leading rusher in Chuba Hubbard, but not having Tylan Wallace made a clear impact on Saturday.
Sanders didn’t have that go-to guy he could sling the ball to 8-10 times per game and even though Dillon Stoner did a solid job as the No. 1 guy against TCU, he’s not Wallace.
Stoner did finish the game with __ yards and two touchdowns on __ catches, but he was one of just __ receivers to catch a pass for the Cowboys. Not having a true go-to threat makes the defense key on the only true threat and that’s Stoner. When Wallace was healthy, defenses had to account for multiple targets, but that’s not the case anymore.
The freshman quarterback still had a solid day through the air, but he didn’t air it out as much as he normally would with a healthy receiving corps.
It might be a tough end to the regular season with Wallace no longer in the picture.
