1. Oregon might be a top-six team on Tuesday

Everyone and their brother has just assumed that anyone from the ACC not named Clemson and the entire Pac-12 has been eliminated from playoff consideration, but Oregon continues to prove that notion isn’t correct.

Well, the ACC is not going to get anyone outside of Clemson, but the Pac-12 is very much alive in the race and that’s thanks to Oregon and Utah.

The Ducks strengthened their case on Saturday with a 56-24 blowout of USC on the road. No, the Trojans aren’t contending for titles this season, but they’re still tough to beat on the road and Oregon made it look easy, even after a slow start.

Oregon not only impressed the committee with the win, but it was already ranked No. 7 heading into Saturday night’s Pac-12 showdown and likely strengthened that standing. The playoff rankings are completely different, but expect Oregon to get a bump this week.
