idle in Week 10. 11/9 vs. Nevada. 901. Pick Analysis. San Diego State Aztecs. 23. player. Scouting Report

San Diego State looks like the team to beat in the MWC West at this point of the season, and as they head into November they are going to get some long looks from the College Football Playoff selection committee. After entering November ranked for the first time of the season in the AP Top 25, the selectors are going to do the same for Rocky Long’s squad as the Aztecs come in on the cusp of the Group of Five race.

Success for the Aztecs this season has been predicated on the play of their defense, which is holding opponents under 285 yards and 15 points per game. They have needed to step up to the plate, thanks to one of the most tepid offenses in the country. San Diego State, once one of the most feared rushing teams in the country, struggles to push the ball on the ground in 2019. Juwan Washington slots barely inside the top 75 running backs in the country with 74 yards per game.

That said, all San Diego State needs to do is win out against Nevada, Fresno State, Hawaii, and BYU to put themselves into a high-stakes Mountain West championship game. If they face off against Boise State in a battle of 11-1 division champs, they could have a shot at turning the conference title game into a play-in game for the Cotton Bowl.
