1. Nobody’s stopping Chuba Hubbard

Heading into the TCU game, a lot of discussion centered on how the two teams’ strengths would match up against each other. Could the Big 12’s stiffest rushing defense slow down the nation’s individual leading rusher?

For one half, yes, it turns out.

The Horned Frogs entered the game allowing a little over 100 yards on the ground per contest. Chuba Hubbard alone, though, racked up 223 yards on 20 carries in Saturday’s game; the majority of his yardage came on two long touchdown runs.

His 92-yard run in the third quarter broke the game open for the Cowboys in what was one of the longest runs from scrimmage in school history. TCU had tied the game at 17-17 entering halftime, and the Horned Frogs appeared to have all of the momentum. OSU’s offensive line, however, shifted to the left, leaving Hubbard to counter to the right and break one tackle.

That was all the space he needed, as the former high school track star outraced the TCU secondary to the end zone 92 yards later.

What made Hubbard’s performance all the more impressive is that TCU’s defense might have keyed in on stopping him, considering the Wallace injury’s effect on the OSU offensive game plan. It made little difference to Hubbard’s final stat line, as the Alberta, Canada native topped 200 yards in a single game for the fourth time this season.
