Arkansas is still very bad at football. Maybe Chad Morris should visit South Bend and see if he can sit and watch some Knute Rockne film on the forward pass. His spread isn’t working in Fayetteville. Is it too soon to pull the pull on the Chad Morris experiment at Arkansas? Well, it might be, but they are paying Brett Bilema not to coach. Could they afford to pay another $8-10 million in buyout money? Probably not, so Woo Pig Sooie. Razorback fans are in for at least two more years of Chad.

While we’re on the subject of hot seat coaches, Derek Mason and the Vanderbilt Commodores followed up their upset win over the Missouri Tigers with a seven-point performance against the South Carolina Gamecocks. They were coming off a bye week as well. They play a “border war” with Kentucky and end the season with interstate rival Tennessee. Mason might have to split these games to save his job. Even if he beats one of the two, that might not be enough to save it. There might be one thing that does, however: no one else may want the job. Hey Vandy, want a decent coach? Spend some money on football.

There’s an old adage: “Be careful what you wish for; you just might get it.” Mississippi head coach Matt Luke played for the Rebels and always wanted to coach them. He has the dream job, but it’s not the most pleasant of dreams. The Rebels are in the midst of a three-game losing streak, and Luke is 14-19 in three seasons in Oxford.

Is his seat hot? Maybe not since he took over after a major scandal involving former head coach Hugh Freeze. After a rash of transfers, the Rebels are still undermanned as far as talented depth.

Wildcats head coach Mark Stoops’ name is going to be linked with any job that comes open this offseason. He’s turned the Wildcats into a winner, and has shown a knack for innovative recruiting to a place that isn’t easy to attract talent. He’s fenced Kentucky, and has hit on most of the best players in the state. The Bluegrass State isn’t known for producing a high number of Power Five level athletes, but he’s gotten most of the best.

The question is, “Will Wildcats boosters and administration make it attractive enough for him to stay, or will he go somewhere he has a legitimate chance to win a national title?”

On the field, he’s done an amazing job considering he’s had to play a wide receiver at quarterback for a portion of the season. With glue, duct tape and chewing gum, he’s “Macguyvered” this team close to six wins after being gutted by the NFL draft and injuries.
