Boise State football is trying to continue its conference dominance over Wyoming in Week 11. Will the Broncos avoid a scare on The Blue?

Boise State Football has been able to rise all the way to No. 22 in the latest College Football Playoff poll. They now sit behind just Cincinnati and Memphis, who play each other in just a few weeks. The Broncos will host Wyoming this weekend on The Blue turf hoping for another Mountain West win. The Cowboys come into the matchup 6-2 and quietly putting together a great 2019 campaign.

The Wyoming Cowboys feature a heavy running game with their quarterback Sean Chambers and running back Xazavian Valladay. This is not a true triple-option offense but shows some similarities. Chambers has shown the ability to sling the football all over the field as well. Although not as accurate as a true pocket passer, Chambers has improved throughout the season with his passing ability.

Boise State is looking for their second straight win after beating San Jose State last week. The Spartans gave the Broncos a run for their money at home and took BSU all the way down to the wire. SJSU was able to punch the Broncos in the mouth in the first quarter, taking a 14-0 lead, but falling behind late in the fourth quarter.

Boise State will get a few defensive starters back on the field on Saturday that should help their secondary. Giving up almost 400 yards last week through the air turned out to be a non-issue and should not factor into this game as the Cowboys have their run-heavy offense. Whenever these two teams meet up we can expect a hard-fought football matchup. The Broncos and Cowboys will be the nightcap for the college football slate on Saturday.

Here’s where to watch this Saturday night:

Date: Saturday, Nov. 9
Time: 10:15 p.m. ET
Location: Boise, Idaho
Venue: Albertsons Stadium
TV: ESPN
Live Stream: WatchESPN

Keys to Victory

Boise State was able to use its special teams to their advantage last Saturday. Avery Williams ran back a touchdown and could play a huge factor in the return game once again. The strength of the defense for the Broncos is also their defensive front which plays right into the hand of BSU. Facing off against a run-heavy offense, Boise State should have the upper hand.

The time of possession for the Cowboys is going to be their biggest weapon on the road. They will have to get past star defensive end Curtis Weaver and keep pushing the tempo on Boise State. Wyoming will try to stay on schedule for most of the game so penalties will have to be avoided at all costs. Albertsons Stadium leads the nation in false starts for opposing teams and we all know how much of a drive killer they can be. Stay on schedule and stay disciplined and you could come away with a huge road win.

Prediction

Boise State is ranked No. 22 for a reason. They have only one loss and that was on the road to a BYU team that was fired up for a rivalry game. The Bronco offense has been inconsistent at times but should be able to move the ball through the air as Wyoming is prone to losing guys in the secondary. This one is going to be tight with the cold weather and the late-night kick-off time. Wyoming will try to keep this a low scoring game and move the chains. Boise State should be able to pull off the victory in a close one.

Final Score: Boise State 31, Wyoming 17
