With plenty of bowl game implications in play, Notre Dame football looks to keep the ball rolling as they take to the road against Duke.
The Irish won by the skin of their teeth against Virginia Tech this past weekend, riding quarterback Ian Book’s late-game heroics to a 21-20 victory. Some will say that a win is a win, but a one-point decision over a Hokies team running out their third-string quarterback was borderline indefensible after the team’s horrific performance against Michigan.
The Irish, who will meet with a struggling Duke team this Saturday, will do so on the road. The atmosphere of Notre Dame Stadium has served the Irish well this season, as both of their losses have come on the road. There’s no way of knowing, but it’s possible that the Michigan game could’ve turned out differently if it was played outside of Ann Arbor.
All of this goes to say that from nearly all accounts, Notre Dame has been a different team on the road, and not for the better. It’ll be up to the Irish to put this trend aside and rebound from a tough couple of weeks in their matchup with the Blue Devils. Here’s how they can do that this weekend.
