Baylor football survived to stay unbeaten on their road trip to face TCU. Here are three things we learned in the Bears’ OT win.

Given the nature of the two programs, it felt like the showdown in Fort Worth between TCU and No. 12 Baylor would amount to a defensive struggle between the two programs. That’s exactly what went down at Amon G. Carter Stadium, as the Bears pulled off a 29-23 victory in triple overtime to survive against the Horned Frogs.

There is still an undefeated Big 12 team as a result, and the path is becoming increasingly clearer for Baylor to walk into the Big 12 championship game. It also keeps their name in the running to earn one of the four spots in the College Football Playoff as the top hope in the conference, though Oklahoma is also by no means out of the running if either can run the table.

Still, TCU has played a huge spoiler in recent weeks, and they nearly did it again. Just two weeks ago, the Horned Frogs toppled then-No. 15 Texas in a 37-27 spanking of the Longhorns that was far wider than the final margin suggests. The close loss against Baylor felt much the same, as Gary Patterson’s crew slowly but surely asserted their dominance over the Bears.

It ended up being a down-to-the-wire showdown, but Baylor held on to keep alive what is starting to line up as a truly magical season in Waco. Here are three things to take away from this last-gasp victory on the road for the Bears in triple overtime against TCU.
