College GameDay is headed down to Tuscaloosa for a monster SEC matchup between Alabama and LSU. Who’ll be the guest picker?

College GameDay is no stranger to Tuscaloosa, making seven appearances on campus since 2011 which means seven different guest pickers.

With the show heading back to Alabama on Saturday morning, that means an eighth celebrity picker will make an appearance for the much-anticipated show. For the biggest game of the year, the show needs to go big with its guest picker and while he may not be the most well-known name nationally, Justin Thomas is a popular athlete in Tuscaloosa.

The professional golfer led the Crimson Tide to a national title in 2013 and turned pro right after and won the PGA Championship in 2017 — his first and only major thus far. He has had a successful golf career and he’s been a source of pride for Alabama fans.

There are only so many names you can choose from when you hit the same campus eight times in eight years, so Thomas is a safe pick and you know he’s going to choose his alma mater.

The 26-year-old Louisville-native follows up Verne Lundquist who was the guest picker in the last GameDay appearance in Tuscaloosa back in 2016 — hard to believe it’s been that long since the show appeared at Alabama. Before that, the show appeared in Tuscaloosa twice in both 2015 and 2014.
