This one went down to the wire as the Boston College Eagles and Florida State football are each looking to go bowling. What did we learn?

The Florida State Seminoles kept their bowl hopes alive by defeating the Boston College Eagles 38-31 in a back and forth game in Chestnut Hill on Saturday.

Florida State quarterback James Blackman threw for 346 yards and two touchdowns in the win for the Seminoles.

A.J. Dillon carried the ball 40 times for 165 yards for the Eagles in a losing effort.

The Eagles attempted to shorten the game by running 93 plays — 64 of them rushes — and led in time of possession. However, and the Seminoles made plays when they needed to  getting a key interception on Eagles quarterback Dennis Grosel who had 227 yards and two touchdowns for the Eagles.

What else did we learn from Florida State’s win?

3. The Eagles miss Anthony Brown

The Boston College offense is centered around A.J. Dillon, but what Anthony Brown brought was the ability to use play-action from the run game and throw it over the heads of the defenders. The Boston College offense just isn’t as efficient without Anthony Brown. Even their attempt to shorten the game by grinding down the Seminoles on the ground. Grosel played well, but it’s obvious they miss their leader at quarterback.
