2. Miami excelled in all three phases

There are three phases to the game. You have to be sound on offense, defense and special teams. Offensively the Hurricanes played as well as they have all season. It was a balanced effort by both the run game and the passing game. Miami had 23 passes and 32 rushes.

Defensively, the Hurricanes were aided by an offense that exploded for 52 points. The defense did generate three turnovers; they got two interceptions and one fumble recovery. Not only did the offense and the defense play well for the Hurricanes, the special teams excelled, too — Al Blades Jr. blocked a punt on special teams.

The Cardinals didn’t do much right, but the Hurricanes played well in all three phases of the game.

They’ve had games where the defense looked good, but the offense was the let down. There were games where the offense looked good, but the defense didn’t play well. This was the first complete game the Miami Hurricanes have played this season.
